University of Texas Health Science Center
UT Kids in partnership with the Cancer Therapy and Research Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the University Health System have come together to create a comprehensive pediatric medical center that serves South Central Texas. For thirty years the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology has provided care to infants, children and adolescents affected by blood and cancer disorders.
The 10 board certified pediatric hematology-oncology faculty are involved in comprehensive care including therapeutic clinical trials, supportive care trials, psychology support, and survivorship. Research focused on the causes and treatment of childhood cancer are also supported through the Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute and the Institute for Drug Development.
In addition, the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology is a holder of the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) grant, in partnership with regional providers in pediatric cancer research, which continues the Health Science Center's more than 20-year tradition of offering South Texas children access to state-of-art cancer care trials.
